U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack hands bags of cookies and milk to school children of Sagad Elementary School in Pasig City, one of the Metro Manila areas badly affected by recent typhoons and floods. During his meeting with Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo earlier in the day, the Secretary announced the donation of US $8.5 million in food aid for typhoon victims in the Philippines. The assistance consists of approximately 7,000 metric tons of rice and 680 metric tons of nonfat dry milk, which will provide food to about 438,000 families for 60 days.
