Ambassador Kristie Kenney and Bai Omera Lucman (left), President of the Philippine Muslim Women Council (PMWC), sign documents for the turnover of six computers and accessories that the U.S. government donated to the women’s organization. With them is USAID-Philippines Deputy Director Elzadia Washington (right). The donation was made through the USAID Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills (EQuALLS) project and the U.S. Peace Corps’ Tudlo Mindanao Project. PMWC will use the donation in training out-of-school youth and adults on basic computer literacy and basic computer repair. A network of 49 organizations composed of women’s groups, peace advocates, development professionals and academe, PMWC’s guiding vision is to mainstream the peace-making role of Muslim women, empower their voices and help build a society based on equity, peace and justice.
