Paul Jones, U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission (right) and Brigadier General Ronald Bailey, Deputy Commanding General of the U.S. Marine II Expeditionary Force (III MEF) greet Sisterm Eva Fidela Maamo, President of the Foundation of Our Lady of Peace Mission, Inc. and Major General Ben Dolorfino, Philippine Marine Commandant, at a December 16 ceremony at which III MEF members distributed toys, clothing, and sporting goods as part of Operation Goodwill 2008. “Operation Goodwill” started in 2003 as a gesture of friendship by U.S. personnel and their families based in Okinawa to share the holiday spirit of giving with children and their families in the Philippines. Since 2003, III MEF has delivered thousands of pounds of toys and supplies to Filipino children during the Christmas holiday season.
