Ambassador Kenney Inaugurates Nueva Ecija Classroom Built by U.S. and Philippine Troops Participating in Talon Vision and Phiblex 2009

U.S. Ambassador Kristie Kenney returns high-fives from students of the Bagong Baryo Elementary School in Guimba, Nueva Ecija on her visit October 26 to inaugurate a classroom constructed by U.S. and Philippine troops as part of the community development and humanitarian program of the Talon Vision and Amphibious Landing Exercise (Phiblex) training exercises in northern Luzon. American and Filipino soldiers participating in the exercises also conducted medical and dental missions, classroom repairs and painting. The Ambassador also visited the U.S. Navy ship USS Essex which was docked near the Province.

The USS Essex visited northern Luzon as part of the Talon Vision and Amphibious Landing Exercises, annual exercises that Philippine and U.S. troops conduct to enhance military interoperability and to assist in the development of the nearby communities through civic and humanitarian projects.

The U.S. Navy ship was docked near Nueva Ecija, where the Ambassador inaugurated earlier in the day a new classroom built by Filipino and American troops participating in the Talon Vision and Amphibious Landing Exercise (Phiblex) in northern Luzon. The annual exercises aim to enhance the interoperability of Philippine and U.S. forces and promote goodwill through joint community development and humanitarian activities.
