USAID Mission Director Jon Lindborg Visits Zamboanga del Norte To Highlight Business Development at Conference in Dipolog City

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Philippines Mission Director Jon Lindborg (center) and Zamboanga del Norte 1st District Congresswoman Cely Jalosjos-Carreon (second, right) cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the trade exhibit at the 17th Mindanao Business Conference in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte, on August 28. In his remarks delivered on behalf of Ambassador Kristie Kenney, Lindborg reiterated the U.S. government’s continued commitment to programs and activities that expand economic opportunity and consolidate peace in Mindanao.

Barangay Magangon, a poultry-raising village in the municipality of Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte, implements an AI preparedness and response plan and is one of the villages in 14 provinces nationwide that benefit from a U.S. government’s $1.68-million anti-AI support program.

During his August 28 visit to the Sto. Tomas, Zamboanga del Norte, Director Lindborg also formally turned over 10 computers and computer accessories worth P339,000 to the parent-teacher-community association and school administration. Under its Computer Literacy and Internet Connection program, USAID, through its Growth and Equity in Mindanao (GEM) program, has provided computers to nearly 700 schools in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and conflict-affected areas in Mindanao.

USAID donated ten computers to the school which is the 14th high school in the Dipolog area to receive assistance from USAID’s Computer Literacy and Internet Connection (CLIC) Program. CLIC has provided computers to nearly 700 schools in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and conflict-affected areas of Mindanao.
