USS Blue Ridge Brings Donations and Showband During May 22-25 Goodwill Visit

The U.S. 7th Fleet's Far East Edition Rock Band performs live at Umagang Kay Ganda (Beautiful Morning), a popular morning TV show in the Philippines. The band also gave two free public concerts at local malls in Manila.
Nina Church, a vocalist with the U.S. 7th Fleet Band, renders a song during one of the two free public concerts held in Manila. The band, which came aboard the USS Blue Ridge, entertained the Filipino crowd with a wide range of music, ranging from pop to rock and from country to blues.

The flagship of the United States 7th Fleet, the USS Blue Ridge, docks in Manila’s South harbor on May 22 for a goodwill visit. The ship’s band gave free public concerts and its crew delivered donated goods from the American people to the Philippine Department of Social Welfare and also volunteered at Gawad Kalinga sites in Manila building homes for those in need.

Sailors from the USS Blue Ridge, the flagship of the United States Seventh Fleet, help to place the Philippine and United States’ flags at each grave at the American Battle Monument and Cemetery in Taguig, East of Manila, in preparation for the Memorial Day services to be held May 25 in honor of American and Philippine military personnel who died in service fighting for the freedom of our peoples.
