NEW CLASSROOM, NEW DESKS FOR MARAWI PUPILS.  U.S. Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney talks to some pupils of Basak Elementary School (Photo A) following the ribbon-cutting ceremony (Photo B) held March 1 to mark the completion of their new classroom.  The new classroom,  built as part of  the humanitarian assistance programs of the 24th annual Balikatan,   was provided with new desks, supplies and other furnishings from the non-governmental organization 3P Foundation USA, headed by Andy de Rossi..  The Balikatan 2008 humanitarian assistance programs in Marawi included free medical, dental and optometric care to over 800 residents.  (Photos by the U.S. Embassy and U.S. Navy Mass Communications Chief Gabe Puello)
