U.S. AMBASSADOR TO VISIT MARAGONDON SCHOOL RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT OF BALIKATAN 2008
The Honorable Kristie A. Kenney, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines, will visit the reconstruction project at Maragondon National High School in Cavite on Tuesday, February 26. Senior leadership of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. Pacific Command as well as local government officials will accompany the Ambassador.
The Maragondon National High School was severely damaged by a fire in April 2007. Its reconstruction is being done as part of Balikatan 2008, an annual Republic of the Philippines and U.S. humanitarian assistance and training activity.
Also in Cavite during Balikatan 2008, Philippine and U.S. military doctors and dentists have provided free medical and dental care to 2500 local residents.
All interested media are invited to cover the event, which will include:
- Tour of newly-repaired school building
- Formal ceremony
- Press availability
Media should arrive no later than 10 a.m.
