U.S. PRESIDENTIAL ADVISOR ON INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC AFFAIRS
VISITS MANILA TO DISCUSS TRADE ISSUES, DOHA NEGOTIATIONS

 

            Daniel M. Price, Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs will be in Manila January 12-14.

Mr. Price will pay a courtesy call on President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. 
He is also scheduled to meet with Trade and Industry Secretary Peter Favila,  Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap, other top Philippine economic officials, and business leaders to discuss trade issues, especially the importance of concluding the Doha Development Round negotiations under the World Trade Organization.
           
            As the President’s senior advisor for international economic affairs, Mr. Price is responsible for coordinating Administration policy on all international economic issues, including international trade and investment, foreign assistance, humanitarian relief, and the international aspects of energy security and climate change.  Additionally, Mr. Price serves as the President’s personal representative to international high-level fora such as the G-8 and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.  He also serves as the United States chair of various bilateral economic dialogues, including the Transatlantic Economic Council and the U.S.-India Economic Dialogue. 

            Mr. Price received a BA with High Honors in History from Haverford College in 1977, a Diploma in Legal Studies in 1979 from Cambridge University where he was a Keasbey Scholar, and his JD from Harvard Law School in 1981 where he was Articles Editor of the Harvard Law Review

            He is the author of numerous articles on international trade, investment and arbitration.  He has served on the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law, the Investment Treaty Advisory Board of the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, the Advisory Committee of Georgetown University's Institute for International Economic Law and the Advisory Board of Columbia University's Program on International Investment.
