U.S. Senators Daniel Inouye and Theodore Stevens Visit the Philippines

During their January 18 visit to Zamboanga City, Senators Stevens and Inouye, accompanied by U.S. Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney, participated in a turnover ceremony celebrating the partnership between USAID's Education Awareness Support Effort (EASE) and the school's Parent Teacher Community Association (PTCA), which together provided the school with 20 computers - ten purchased by USAID and ten purchased by the PTCA.

The U.S. Senators received a warm welcome from the Philippine veterans, Philippine military officers and senior government officials, and local businessman who attended the event. Senator Inouye is a WWII veteran and the recipient of the U.S. military's highest award for military valor, the Medal of Honor. Senator Stevens is the longest serving senator in the history of the U.S. Republican Party. They are chairman and co-chairman, respectively, of the U.S. Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee.
