U.S. Ambassador Kristie Kenney unveils the marker symbolizing the completion of the Camp Uno-Tuburan road in Basilan, during a ceremony on January 10. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the 13.4-km road that now connects two municipalities helping the local farmers gain better access to local markets and further contribute to the peace and security of the area. Ambassador Kenney also led the inauguration on January 11 of the Visayan Forum Foundation's halfway house in Zamboanga City, the organization's newest facility for assisting human trafficking victims. The Visayan Forum's program, which has been frequently cited as one of the world's best practices in combating human trafficking, is a beneficiary of U.S. government grants and operates halfway houses in Manila, and the provinces of Batangas, Davao and Sorsogon.
