Ambassador Kenney Celebrates Thanksgiving Day with US-Philippine troops and other friends in Zamboanga

Ambassador Kristie Kenney serves turkey to Western Mindanao Command Chief Major General Nelson Allaga during the Thanksgiving Day dinner that the Ambassador hosted on November 22 in Zamboanga City for US and Philippine troops along with local government officials, NGOs and media.
It is a tradition in the U.S. military that during the Thanksgiving holiday, senior officers serve the junior officers. Ambassador Kenny and U.S. senior military officials joined her in serving the traditional American meal in Zamboanga to U.S. and Philippine troops and other guests.
Ambassador Kenney (fourth from right) and Zamboanga City Mayor Celso Lobregat (third, right) are greeted warmly by students and faculty of Southern City Colleges during their visit on November 22. The Ambassador inaugurated the USAID-assisted Computer Literacy and Internet Connectivity (CLIC) project in the school. The project provides computers and Internet connection to help build students’ computer skills and supplement their classroom lessons with educational materials from the Internet. Southern City Colleges is the 28th beneficiary of the CLIC program in Mindanao that has provided computers and Internet access to 655 schools in conflict-affected areas of Mindanao.
Ambassador Kenney joins students of Zamboanga City’s Southern City Colleges in surfing the Internet using computers and Internet connections that USAID provided under its Computer Literacy and Internet Connectivity (CLIC) project. The Ambassador launched the CLIC project at the Southern City Colleges on November 22. Later that day, she hosted a Thanksgiving Day dinner for US and Philippine troops along with local officials at Western Mindanao Command.
