Ambassador Kenney Leads November 11 Ceremony in Manila to Honor American and Filipino Veterans of Wars To Defend Democracy

U.S. Ambassador Kristie Kenney salutes a Filipino veteran of World War II during the Veterans Day ceremony that the Ambassador led at the American Cemetery and Memorial in Manila on November 11. In her remarks, the Ambassador honored American and Filipino and veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq for defending freedom worldwide. Veterans, their families, and guests from the local American community attended the ceremony. Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary and Presidential Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita represented the Philippine government at the event.
American and Filipino soldiers of the Honor Guards parade the Philippine and American flags at the start of the Veterans Day ceremony held at the American Cemetery and Memorial in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, Metro Manila on November 11. The ceremony, led by U.S. Ambassador Kristie Kenney, honored deceased and living Filipino and American soldiers for defending democracy worldwide.
