Ambassador Kenney Hosts Veterans Day Ceremony and Promotes Environmental Message “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” in Baguio City

U.S. Ambassador Kristie Kenney signs as a witness to the covenant of Baguio City’s academic institutions to nurture the environment in the Cordillera region. Member institutions launched the Energy and Clean Air Network of the Academe (ECADEME), their network organization, which was a result of discussions and workshops on energy and air quality issues conducted by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in 2005. Ambassador Kristie Kenney presents Baguio City Acting Mayor Daniel Fariñas one of the anti-smoke belching tool kits that the U.S. is donating to the city government to help in its campaign to improve air quality. These tool kits are used to measure car exhaust fumes and help reduce air pollution. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is also assisting the city government to formulate a local anti-smoke belching ordinance.
