Ambassador Kristie Kenney poses with students on the deck of the Philippine government's oceanographic research ship, the BRPH Presbitero, when the ship and its joint team of American and Filipino marine and oceanographic scientists docked at Manila's Pier 13 on October 16. The ship, which explored the Celebes Sea for data that will be contributed to world's knowledge on deep-sea regions of the world, invited students from the Malaya Science High School for a tour of the ship and a briefing on the ship's research mission as part of the Inner Space Speciation Project (ISSP). ISSP is led by the U.S. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Geographic Society. With the Ambassador and the students are NAMRIA Administrator Diony Ventura (right); undersea exploration technician Joe Caba (in white shirt behind the Ambassador) and Dr. Larry Madin of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (back row in maroon shirt).
