U.S Pledges New Support to Health Programs in the Philippines
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed an agreement with the Philippine Department of Health providing $24 million to improve the quality of health services in the Philippines. This is the part of the United States’ pledge of $125 million to strengthen overall health services for the Filipino people over the next five years.
USAID-supported programs are providing Filipino men, women and children access to quality health services for maternal and child health, tuberculosis prevention and treatment, HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases, such as Avian Influenza.

Lindborg commented, “Today’s agreement is yet another example of the strong partnership that exists between the Philippine government and the U.S. government in our joint efforts to improve health services for Filipinos. We look forward to working together on many important health programs in the years ahead.”
