U.S. to Assist in Renovating Training Facilities for the Philippine National Police
The United States will provide funding (approximately 11.2 million pesos) to renovate the Philippine National Police training facilities at their regional base in General Santos City. The project includes new sleeping quarters, a dining facility, classrooms and upgrades to small arms ranges and a tactical “shoot house” structure.
Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney participated in the signing ceremony with Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, General Oscar Calderon at Camp Crame in Quezon City on September 26.
The U.S. assistance seeks to improve the capabilities and capacities of its partner nation’s forces. The U.S. enjoys a strong partnership with Philippine law enforcement officials and this is just one example of U.S. support in improving the infrastructure of police units in the Philippines. Other recent training infrastructure improvements include those in Zamboanga and San Fernando, La Union.
The U.S. continues to value its partnership with the Philippine National Police in promoting peace and prosperity.
