Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney Participates with U.S. Navy Sailors Building Homes for Philippine People at Gawad Kalinga

Pictured above is Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney with two sailors (on her right and left) from the visiting U.S. Navy ships USS MILIUS and USS CHUNG-HOON, along with Mayor Sigfrido "Freddie" R. Tinga, at work building homes for Filipinos on September 13 at Gawad Kalinga site in Taguig. The two U.S. Navy Ships, USS MILIUS and USS CHUNG-HOON, arrived in Manila September 12 as part of a goodwill mission to conduct community projects. Sailors from the vessels are working to build and repair homes for local Filipino citizens in need at various Gawad Kalinga projects during their routinely scheduled port visit to Manila September 12 - 16. The U.S. military personnel are enjoying the opportunity to contribute to the local community here as well as build friendships with local citizens.

A U.S. Navy sailor and Filipino work together at the Gawad Kaling site in Taguig. Sailors from the two U.S. Navy Ships, USS MILIUS and USS CHUNG-HOON volunteered their time during their routinely scheduled port visit to help build and repair homes for local Filipino citizens in need.
