Visiting U.S. Marine Corps Band Gives Free Concerts in Manila, Visits Music Schools

A U.S. Marine Corps band performed four free public concerts in Manila while visiting the Philippines with the USS Peleliu, a U.S. Navy ship in the country on a one-month goodwill visit. The U.S. Marine Forces Pacific Band's talented professional musicians have toured internationally and performed for millions throughout the Western Pacific, playing for audiences of all ages and fulfilling their duties as musical ambassadors for the Marine Corps.
A U.S. Marine Corps band drew large crowds during their free concert performances at Market Market!, Eastwood City's Fuente Circle, SM Manila, and the Mall of Asia. One of 12 "field bands" throughout the Corps, the U.S. Marine Forces Pacific Band visited the Philippines aboard the USS Peleliu.
A member of a visiting U.S. Marine Corps band steps offstage to dance with audience members to popular Filipino song "Itaktak Mo." The band's upbeat music and friendly demeanor drew large crowds during a series of four free concert performances at malls across Manila. The band is traveling with the USS Peleliu, which has been deployed in support of the Pacific Partnership humanitarian mission.
In addition to performing at four free concerts in Manila, members of the U.S. Marine Forces Pacific Band held Master Classes for students from Filipino music conservatories. The talented musicians spent a day working with music students as part of the USS Peleliu's four-month goodwill tour. Pictured above, the U.S. Marine Corps band's drummer helps students with their drumming technique.
