Ambassador Kenney Enjoys Philippines' Basketball and Baseball

U.S. Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney joins a group of university students attending the opening game of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) 2007 basketball season.
U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie A. Kenney and U.S. Embassy staff joined with Filipino sports fans at two major events during the weekend of July 7 - 8; the opening game of the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) 2007 basketball season, and the championship game of the Philippines new professional baseball league, Baseball Philippines.
On July 7, Ambassador Kenney joined thousands of college basketball fans for the opening ceremonies and opening game of the UAAP 2007 season between De La Salle University and the University of the Philippines.
Ambassador Kenney also threw out the first pitch of the 2007 championship game of the Philippines' new baseball league, Baseball Philippines, which pitted the Makati Mariners against the Negros Roosters. Baseball Philippines, a community-based league featuring five teams from Manila, Makati, Laguna, Cebu and Negros Occidental, aims to further develop the sport, raise the quality of play to a higher level, and aid in the resurgence of the sport in the Philippines.
