Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, Admiral Timothy Keating
Visits the Philippines
Admiral Timothy J. Keating, Commander of the U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM) will visit the Philippines June 26 - 28 to meet with military and government counterparts and to attend meetings of the Mutual Defense Board/Security Engagement Board.
This will be Admiral Keating's first visit to the Philippines in his role as PACOM Commander, which he assumed in March 2007. He is a 36-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, and previously served as Commander, U.S. Northern Command. A detailed biography is attached.
U.S. Pacific Command is responsible for all U.S. military activities and relations in the Asia-Pacific, an area of responsibility that comprises more than 50 percent of the Earth's surface and nearly 60 percent of the world's population. The U.S. Pacific Command, in concert with other U.S. government agencies and regional partners, promotes peaceful development in the Asia-Pacific region by deterring aggression, advancing regional security cooperation and responding to crises.
