U.S. Embassy Congratulates Philippine Legislature

on its Centennial Anniversary

 

On the occasion of the Centennial Celebration of the Philippine legislature on June 7, the U.S. Embassy in Manila extends its warm congratulations on behalf of the government and people of the United States.  The U.S. is proud of its long association as a democratic partner with the Republic of the Philippines, and treasures the friendship between our two peoples as well as our nations. 

 

For one hundred years, the Philippine legislature has given voice to the democratic aspirations of the people of the Philippines.  Its long tradition of informed debate and independent inquiry make it an essential pillar of democracy in the country.

 

The United States looks forward to continued cooperation and exchanges with the Philippine legislature as we advance our shared commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and respect for human rights.
