Sailors of USNS San Jose Conduct Community Project in Quezon City

More than 20 military and civilian sailors from the USNS San Jose put a fresh coat of paint on the Little Children's Home in Quezon City while in Manila during a stop for supplies and fuel. The sailors donated paint, labor, and creativity during the May 25 event as they spruced up the outdoor covered training area used by the facility for childbirth classes.
The Little Children's Home is an orphanage supported by the U.S. Embassy Club (USEC), a volunteer group composed of U.S. Embassy employees and family members that conducts charitable work in the Manila area. The U.S. Navy has visited the home before to conduct community service work and support the work of the Little Children's Home. There are 30 U.S. Sailors and 150 civilian crew members onboard the USNS San Jose and approximately 75% of them are Filipino-Americans, many of whom had the opportunity to visit family and friends during their stop in Manila.
