U.S. Government Donates Equipment to Davao, General Santos Police to Assist in Investigations

The U.S. Government donated $45,000 worth of equipment to Police Regional Office 12 of General Santos City, and Police Regional Office 11 of Davao to give police investigators the tools necessary to collect valuable physical evidence when investigating criminal and terrorism cases. Pictured above, recipients look through the donated equipment, which includes widescreen laptop computers, portable printers, digital cameras, distance laser rangefinders, and handheld global positioning system (GPS) equipment.
The equipment donation was made during the graduation ceremony for a three-week course on Post-Blast Investigation held in General Santos City. Pictured above are U.S. Embassy Anti-terrorism Assistance Program (ATA) personnel and security officers officially handing over equipment to a Philippine police representative. Thanks to this donation from the American people, police officials in Davao and General Santos City are now better equipped to investigate instances of terrorism.
The U.S.-sponsored Post-Blast Investigation course is designed for experienced criminal investigators, bomb technicians, and other explosives investigators who are directly or indirectly involved in the investigation of explosions and/or bombings. The three-week course was held in General Santos and focused on providing training on collecting valuable physical evidence when investigating criminal and terrorism cases. Pictured above, participants ignite a test bomb explosion that they then used as a sample crime scene to practice investigation techniques.
At the three-week Post-Blast Investigation course conducted by the U.S. Government in General Santos City, participating police officers worked on fake crime scenes (pictured above) to improve their investigation techniques and skills. After the course, the U.S. Government donated $45,000 worth of equipment to Police Regional Office 12 of General Santos City, and Police Regional Office 11 of Davao. The equipment includes widescreen laptop computers, portable printers, digital cameras, distance laser rangefinders, and handheld global positioning system (GPS) equipment.
