U.S. Ambassador Speaks to American Chamber;

Stresses Giving Back to Community

U.S. Ambassador Stresses Giving Back to Community at Chamber of Commerce Event

U.S. Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney was the guest speaker at the American Chamber of Commerce’s membership luncheon on April 26.  Ambassador Kenney spoke of the “broad range of products and services that American companies and their partners have brought to the Philippines over many decades,” and congratulated the firms on their dedication to corporate social responsibility (CSR).

“Individual firms can play meaningful roles that touch hundreds of lives,” said Ambassador Kenney, noting corporate donations, scholarship programs, English proficiency programs, partnership in electrification and nutrition projects, and myriad other CSR programs of American firms in the Philippines.  “Each of these civic actions helps improve communities, bring optimism to our neighbors, and make the Philippines a better place to live and work.”  American firms are also making great contributions to the future environmental well-being of this country, she noted.

Ambassador Kenney, pictured above with the Chamber’s Board of Directors, congratulated the American Chamber Foundation, which is launching an annual corporate social responsibility awards program to recognize member contributions and programs.

            Discussing the global commerce market, Ambassador Kenney said that “Americans, Filipinos, and people from many nationalities now make up the truly global workforce of American Chamber companies.  As a result, the faces in your workforce now reflect the best of globalization.”
