U.S. Pays $85,000 to Two Filipinos as Part of Rewards for Justice Program

The U.S. Government gave $85,000 in rewards last week to two Filipino citizens who provided key information leading to the killings of two notorious terrorist leaders.

These courageous individuals stood against terrorism and provided information that was instrumental in allowing the Armed Forces of the Philippines to track Abu Sayyaf Group leaders Jumdan Jamalul, also known as the Black Killer, and Binang Sali, alias Commander Freedom.

Lt. Gen. Eugenio Cedo, Western Mindanao Command Chief, hosted the ceremony with Armed Forces of the Philippines leadership and U.S. military members attending.  Lt. Gen. Cedo remarked upon the bravery of the two Filipino citizens, who received rewards of $50,000 and $35,000 (pictured).

The rewards were provided through the U.S. Department of Defense and Department of State’s Rewards for Justice program, which provides cash rewards for information leading to the arrest of terrorists involved in acts against U.S. citizens.
