U.S. Government to Fund Anti-Trafficking in Persons Programs:
Project Proposals Due April 13
Organizations and government agencies working on anti-human trafficking initiatives are invited to submit project proposals for funding consideration by the U.S. Government.
The U.S. Embassy and the U.S. Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP) are now accepting project proposals from nongovernmental organizations, international organizations, and government agencies that will address and assist with identified TIP issues in the Philippines.
Competitive funding is available from the U.S. Department of State, which encourages proposals that include law enforcement-related projects and cooperative efforts between the criminal justice sector and civil society, especially those designed to improve victim protection and assistance services.
Proposals are due no later than Friday, April 13. Click here for details on the proposal format and submission guidelines.
The battle against human trafficking is a high priority for the U.S. Government and the American people. Development assistance from the American people contributed more than $1 million to support anti-trafficking activities in the Philippines last year, including financial support to operate halfway houses that give victims temporary shelter, counseling, repatriation and legal advice; training for law enforcement officials on evidence-gathering techniques for human trafficking cases; and partnerships with prosecutors on creating models for handling these sensitive cases.
In close cooperation with our Filipino partners, the U.S. Government will continue to be a strong and dedicated partner of the Filipino people in combating trafficking in persons.
