Deputy Chief of Mission Jones Visits Cotabato to Dedicate Trading Center, Meet with Officials on Peace Talks

In a February visit to the Cotabato City area and Shariff Kabunsuan Province, U.S. officials turned over a community trading center funded by the American people in Sultan Kudarat. The Bulalo Trading Center has given fish, fruit, and vegetable traders in Sultan Kudarat the opportunity to increase their incomes with a permanent and convenient place to display and sell their produce. Cotabato City Mayor Muslimin Sema welcomed a group of U.S. officials to his office, where U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Paul W. Jones (right) confirmed the desire of the American people to continue to partner with residents of Cotabato City on projects for peace and prosperity that will improve the lives of local citizens.

Jones and visiting U.S. officials on the activities of the IMT in support of peace negotiations between the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
