MSU Preparatory High students get Internet

Ambassador Francis Ricciardone demonstrates to students of Mindanao State University (MSU) Preparatory High School in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi how to log on to the U.S. Embassy website following the July 11 launching of the Growth With Equity in Mindanao (GEM) Computer Literacy and Internet Connection Program at MSU. The launching, led by Ambassador Wendy Chamberlin, USAID Assistant Administrator for Asia and the Near East, included a turnover of five desktop computers, local area network, peripherals and software. The computers are linked to Internet services available at MSU’s college department. The USAID-assisted program is in support of the Department of Education’s efforts to integrate computer education in schools. Ambassadors Ricciardone and Chamberlin visited other USAID-assisted activities in Mindanao, including programs to integrate former rebel combatants, expand education, promote healthy families, revitalize local economies, strengthen local governance, and improve the management of natural resources.
