FROM ARMS TO FARMS

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and U.S. Ambassador Francis J. Ricciardone “pull together” to rake palay at the dedication ceremony for a solar dryer and warehouse in Cotobato during the President’s trip to Mindanao on June 13. The U.S. government sponsored project, called Livelihood Enhancement and Peace (LEAP), seeks to provide former MNLF combatants with an alternative to violence, by providing them with a sustainable livelihood.
