Annual Military Exercises a Winning Endeavor for Militaries and Host Communities

U.S. and Filipino Marines ride in a combat rubberized reconnaissance craft (CRRC) as they participate in a small craft patrolling exercise in Honda Bay, Palawan, during October's annual bilateral exercises Talon Vision and Amphibious Landing Exercise. Approximately 150 Marines and their Filipino counterparts spent the day patrolling the coastal waterways of the bay to hone their skills in maneuvering and navigating in the sea. Prior to the patrolling exercise, the Filipino Marines spent a week learning the concrete basics of operating a CRRC and gaining the knowledge to help them successfully scout the islands' waterways to protect its citizens. The annual exercises are designed to improve interoperability, increase readiness, and continue professional relationships between the U.S. and Philippine Armed Forces. As part of an annual bilateral training exercise between the U.S. and Philippine militaries, Marines and sailors tested a Talon bomb disposal robot, which U.S. forces used to battle the threat of improvised explosive devices during Operation Iraqi Freedom. U.S. and Philippine explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technicians had the opportunity to try their hand at controlling the robot via remote control. Here, the robot picks up an inert unexploded mortar round at Clark Air Base during a class in bomb disposal.
A bulk fuel specialist from the Armed Forces of the Philippines stands by with a fire extinguisher in case of an emergency while a CH-46E Sea Knight refuels on Clark Air Base during an annual bilateral U.S.-Philippine training exercise. The airmen got the opportunity to use a helicopter expedient refueling system at a four-point, forward arming refueling point, an useful exercise in planning for emergencies and natural disasters.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines conducted live-fire training exercises with U.S. Marines and sailors using small arms, mortars, light armored vehicles, and close air support. The training was held during the annual bilateral exercises Talon Vision and Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX), which are designed to improve interoperability, increase readiness, and continue professional relationships between the United States and Philippine Armed Forces.

The project was held during the annual bilateral exercises Talon Vision and Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX). The program provided free medical care to hundreds of area residents.
Medical officers from the Philippine and U.S. militaries give free medical check-ups to local residents at Barangay San Juan Elementary School in San Antonio, Zambales, during a medical/dental civic action project held at the school on October 27. The U.S. Marines and sailors are currently in the Philippines participating in the annual bilateral training exercises Talon Vision and Amphibious Landing Exercise (PHIBLEX), which are designed to enhance interoperability and professional relations between the U.S. and Philippine Armed Forces.
