Ambassador Kenney Visits the Islamic City of Marawi

Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney poses with members of the Philippine Muslim Women's Council at a conference in the Islamic City of Marawi. Ambassador Kenney delivered the keynote address at a conference sponsored by the Council focusing on women's role in preserving the environment.
Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney looks at materials prepared by women participants in a job and skills training project supported by the United States. The U.S. provided Mindanao State University's Center for Women's Studies in the Islamic City of Marawi with sewing machines used to train women entrepreneurs in garment making.

Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney and students of the Jamiatu Muslim Mindanao in the Islamic City of Marawi. The U.S. Agency for International Development provided the Islamic school with computers and a connection to the Internet. Over one dozen schools in the Islamic City of Marawi have been connected to the Internet though this program, as well as hundreds of schools across the Philippines.
