"None of us can predict or prevent natural disasters, but we can stand together in humanitarian relief," said Ambassador Kenney during an October 5 ceremony to officially present a $100,000 donation from the U.S. Government to the PNRC. Ambassador Kenney and Senator Gordon display some of the essential relief supplies being purchased with the U.S. donation, such as blankets, mosquito nets, sleeping mats, water containers, rice, and hygiene kits to support 6,000 families affected by the typhoon in Sorsogon and Albay. Also pictured is U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Jon Lindborg (far left). The U.S. donation is from USAID's Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance and brings to $382,000 the total donations made by the American people to the PNRC in 2006 alone.
