U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Visits Philippines, Addresses Students at Philippine Military Academy and De La Salle University

During his July 29-30 visit to Baguio City, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill receives arrival honors at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), where he is joined by PMA's Superintendent, Major General Leopoldo Maligalig.

During a visit to Baguio City on July 29-30, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill (right) and U.S. Ambassador Kristie Kenney officially opened an American Corner at the Philippine Military Academy's library, which received a donation of nearly $12,000 in materials in equipment from the U.S. Embassy in Manila under a program that provides reference materials, periodical subscriptions, CD-ROMs and videotapes, and electronic equipment to libraries in the Philippines. Cutting the ribbon with Assistant Secretary Hill is PMA's Superintendent, Major General Leopoldo Maligalig.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill shakes hands with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during his visit to Malacanang Place on July 31. This was his third visit to the Philippines in the last year. Assistant Secretary Hill also met with Finance Secretary Margarito Teves and Trade and Industry Secretary Peter Favila to discuss economic, political, and security issues and to reaffirm US-Philippines bilateral ties.
