Thousands of Animals Treated During Veterinary Program of U.S. and Philippine Militaries in Zamboanga

A U.S. Military veterinarian is assisted by a local resident as he prepares to vaccinate a piglet during a June 23 Veterinary Community Action Program (VETCAP) conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and U.S. Military in Zamboanga. The AFP and U.S. Military provided veterinary service to assist local residents in their livelihood and increase economic development in five barangays during the month of June.
A local resident from Barangay Lamisahan in Zamboanga rides his cow to a Veterinary Community Action Program (VETCAP) conducted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the U.S. Military in Zamboanga. During the one-day program, American and Filipino veterinarians treated 75 cattle, 11 carabao, 52 goats, 295 pigs, 1554 chickens and 32 dogs for area residents who rely on livestock and animals for their livelihood.

The U.S. Military's Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines (JSOTF-P) is deployed to the southern region of the Philippines in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where they work with partners in the Armed Forces of the Philippines on myriad community programs to assist area residents.
