U.S. Military Photos Included in the Defense Press Corps' "Memoirs of Heroes" Photo Exhibit

An American and a Filipino soldier stand "shoulder to shoulder" during a break in training at Fort Magsaysay during the Balikatan '06 exercises this year. There are many Filipino-American military personnel who visit the Philippines for training each year, helping bridge the language gap between their American units and their Filipino training partners, and learning about their heritage at the same time. This photo, taken by a U.S. Military serviceperson, is included in the Philippine Defense Press Corps' photo exhibit called "Memoirs of Heroes: A Collection of Heroic Moments Seized in Timeless Frames."
The Philippine and American militaries work together on many civic and humanitarian programs whenever they train together. Here, they visit the San Antonio Community Center Preschool's graduation in Singalong, Manila, to encourage children to study and attend school. The Defense Press Corps' photo exhibit will be displayed at SM Star City from May 11-15, and then will travel to Zamboanga, Cagayan, Batangas, Pampanga, Davao, and Quezon City.
Philippine Army soldiers and U.S. Marines unload food, blankets, water, and other vital supplies from a U.S. helicopter in St. Bernard during February's landslide in Leyte. Many U.S. military servicemen, in the Philippines for Balikatan '06 exercises, rushed to the area to provide humanitarian assistance for the victims. Several photos of humanitarian work conducted by military servicepersons are included in the Defense Press Corps' photo exhibit.
Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. Military paratroopers exchange jump wings in Los Baños during a 60th World War II Commemorative Anniversary event, ensuring they each have a memento of their training and learning together, and of the long history of partnership between their countries. The Defense Press Corps' photo exhibit will be displayed at SM Star City from May 11-15, and then will travel to Zamboanga, Cagayan, Batangas, Pampanga, Davao, and Quezon City.
