Visiting U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs R. James Nicholson and Ambassador Kristie Kenney talk with veterans at an April 29 reception held in honor of Secretary Nicholson, who visited Manila as part of a five-country tour of Southeast Asia. During his visit, he toured the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Outpatient Clinic in Manila; visited the island of Corregidor, where he commemorated the brave Filipino and American service members who fought shoulder to shoulder during World War II; and laid a wreath at the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial, recognizing the sacrifice of the more than 17,000 American military dead who rest there.
