U.S. Pavilion at ASCOPE Opened by President Arroyo President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo cuts the ribbon to officially open the U.S. Pavilion & Catalog Show at the 8th ASEAN Council on Petroleum (ASCOPE) Conference & Exhibition on December 1. With her are U.S. Embassy Charge d'Affaires Paul Jones (right) and Philippine National Oil Company President Eduardo Mañalac. The U.S. Pavilion was arranged by the U.S. Commercial Service. U.S. Embassy Charge d'Affaires Paul Jones and President Arroyo walk through the U.S. Pavilion to view the exhibits of U.S.-based companies who have partnered with local firms in the oil and gas sector. The U.S. Pavilion featured 12 of the most active American firms in the oil and gas sector who were gathered here by U.S. Commercial Service. U.S. Embassy Charge d'Affaires Paul Jones (second from right) and U.S. Embassy Commercial Attache Brent Omdahl (far right) meet with American exhibitors at ASCOPE, which is a unique gathering of experts, advocates and industry practitioners in the oil and gas sector that is held every four years. The exhibitors were brought to Manila by the U.S. Commercial Service, which is part of a global network of trade specialists that assists American firms in identifying potential business partners and provides information on doing business in the Philippines. Exhibitors in the U.S. Pavilion prepare for the opening of the 8th ASEAN Council on Petroleum (ASCOPE) Conference & Exhibition. American exhibitors, assisted by the U.S. Commercial Service, had a successful showing and left with a renewed energy in their partnership with Filipino firms. The U.S.-Philippine technology partnership is especially critical for the oil and gas sector, and the American presence at this conference shows the dedication of American firms to a continuation of that friendship.
