U.S., Philippine navies hold CARAT 2005 exercises, medical civic action

 

Four U.S. Navy ships and two Philipine Navy Ships (above) and their personnel (left) team up during the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercises held in Subic and Palawan waters on August 16-23, 2005 to enhance the two countries’ interoperability against maritime piracy and terrorism. CARAT 2005 exercises were preceded by a week of medical-dental and civic action projects in communities near Subic Bay. The joint teams of U.S and Philippine navy personnel (left and below), constructed a two-room school building in San Narciso, Zambales, near Subic Bay, and provided free medical and dental service to more than 300 of the town’s residents (lower photos) during the weeklong Medical Civic Action Program that preceded the CARAT military exercises.
