LANGUAGE COORDINATOR

(Code: LC)

TYPE OF CONTRACT:  Personal Services Contract from February to June 2006
 

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

                The Language Coordinator (LC) oversees all aspects of training associated with language learning and cultural adaptation at the barangay level. He/She assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Training of Trainers for LCFs. He/She is responsible for the development of formal and informal language curriculum including weekly themes, lesson plans and community assignments.  He/She ensures the integration of cultural, technical, health and safety aspects of training into the language curriculum.  He/She assists in coordinating the efforts of the LCFs in identifying and surveying local families for the Homestay of the Peace Corps Volunteers.  He/She writes a regular report of the progress of Volunteers in their language learning and cultural adaptation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College degree or equivalent knowledge with 3-4 years experience in teaching languages;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of communicative and interactive methods of teaching a language to an adult;
  • Managerial experience preferred;
  • Ability to design a language training curriculum using the community as a learning resource;
  • Willingness to travel extensively to any region in the Philippines from NorthernLuzon to Eastern Visayas;
  • Strong facilitation and training skills;
  • Professional level proficiency in English;
  • High degree of demonstrated initiative, leadership, creativity and responsibility;
  • Computer literate
  • Holder of an NBI Clearance;
  • Physically fit to work long hours;
  • Experience with Peace Corps trainings - a plus.
