Under the Legal Immigration Family Equity Act (LIFE) enacted on 21 December 2000, several new classifications of visas were created that allow certain beneficiaries to enter the United States and join their petitioners while they wait for their Priority Dates to become current.
K-3 and K-4 visas are designated for the spouses and unmarried children under age 21 of U.S. citizens, respectively, while the V visa covers the spouses and unmarried children under age 21 of legal permanent residents.
Like fiancé(e) visas, these are essentially nonimmigrant visas, but at the U.S. Embassy in Manila, they are processed at the Immigrant Visa Unit. Please refer to the Immigrant Visas pages for more information. For additional information, one may also reach them at:
