Administrative Remarks and Welcome Aboard

Welcome to JUSMAGPHL, we appreciate your support of the US Embassy in the Republic of the Philippines. Because of the excellent relationship between the United States and the Republic of the Philippines, there are hundreds of DoD TDY visitors to the Republic of the Philippines each year. While we would like to provide seamless, full-service support for all of your official requirements, there are budgetary, technical, manpower, space and other constraints that require us to request your assistance in adhering to some basic rules and limitations. Please review the guidance below, and if you have any special requirements that are not being met, ask one of our staff to assist you.

If you need a short-term, as in a few minutes or couple of hours, temporary place to work at a desk, please ask one of our staff for an appropriate place to do your work. If you will be here longer term, please check with our staff about the availability of an alternative or dedicated office space. Please ask a JUSMAG staff member before you begin using their telephone, sitting at their desk, using their computer or other equipment/supplies. In addition to disrupting a working environment JUSMAG is on a very conservative budget and items, such as long distance telephone connections and Internet connection fees that are low cost in the US cost JUSMAG high fees.

Uniforms and Appropriate Civilian Attire

Due to the threat level in the Republic of the Philippines uniforms are not generally recommended unless you are participating in a military exercise or event that specifically require a uniform. However, uniforms may be worn on military compounds, field locations, or in secure vehicles in transit between these locations. Uniforms may NOT be worn in authorized public transportation such as taxis. You may wear your uniform when transiting through your hotel lobby directly en route to/from your vehicle. If you have a question about when uniform wear is expected or appropriate check with your JUSMAG host.

Minimum acceptable civilian attire when doing ANY activity (other than PT) at JUSMAGPHL or at the US Embassy, is long pants/slacks (or skirt/dress for females), collared shirt, lace or “loafer” shoes. While ties are not required for TDY personnel they are strongly recommended. Inappropriate attire includes shorts, pants that are tattered/torn/worn, flip-flops, t-shirts, tank tops, or clothing with inappropriate messages/images. For embassy visits/meetings, collared shirts and dress slacks/shoes are required. Ties are strongly encouraged.

Internet

In accessing official Internet accounts please keep some guidelines in mind. If using dial-up access, charges here is time based not a flat monthly rate. Limit your logged on time as much as
possible. After logging off confirm that the dial-up connection symbol, a small picture of two tiny computers on the bottom right of your screen, disappears. If not, you are probably still connected and accruing charges. Click or double-click on that symbol to make the disconnect function visible and then disconnect.

Please do not change any settings on our systems.

Official accounts are not for personal entertainment, downloading unofficial material, or “cruising the web” and are not authorized. If you wish to do that, you need to procure a personal account using your personal funds. We do, however, recognize that you are a long way from home and use of the Internet for emergent personal needs such as bill paying, communication with family members, etc., are necessary and are authorized.

Most desktop LAN and Internet systems are unclassified; however, JUSMAG has SIPRNET access as well as STU III access. Our staff will be happy to assist you with these needs.

Again, welcome to JUSMAGPHL and the US Embassy.
