Rescued hostage Gracia Burnham departs for home

Mrs. Gracia Burnham, held hostage along with her husband and Martin and Filipino nurse Ediborah Yap by the Abu Sayyaf for a year in Mindanao, is wheeled in a reception room at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to meet journalists June 10 before her departure for home in Kansas, U.S.A.  She was wounded in the right leg during the June 7 rescue operation mounted by the Philippine soldiers against the Abu Sayyaf.

U.S. Ambassador Francis J. Ricciardone presents Mrs. Gracia Burnham to journalists at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport prior to her June 10 departure for the U.S.  Behind the Ambassador are (left to right) Mary Jones, sister of Gracia; and Cheryl Burnham-Spicer, sister of Martin Burnham.
