Registering Derivatives

If you would like to register a new derivative or update the information on an existing derivative, please contact the U.S. Embassy in Manila by fax at (632) 301-2591. You may also mail the following information to us:

By Mail:

From within the Philippines: Operations Unit, Immigrant Visa Branch, United States Embassy, 1201 Roxas Blvd., Ermita, Metro Manila 1000

From outside the Philippines: Operations Unit, Immigrant Visa Branch, PSC 500, Box 26, FPO AP, 96515-1000 USA

    • DO NOT send registered mail.
    • DO NOT address correspondence to a person by name. Employees are transferred on a regular basis, so any mail addressed to an individual may be forwarded to that person and not to the section where your concern would be addressed.
    • If you have an e-mail address, please include it in your letter.

    Required documents:

    • A clear photocopy of the principal applicant’s green card (front and back) and the ADIT-stamped portion of the passport.
    • A copy of the I-797 showing the priority date, approval date and visa category of the principal applicant’s I-140/I-130 visa petition from the USCIS.
    • A clear copy of your marriage contract and the birth certificates of your spouse and children on certified National Statistics Office (NSO) security paper for travel abroad.
    • Your current Philippine mailing address and contact number(s).

Note: The National Visa Center (NVC) in Portsmouth, New Hampshire forwards immigrant visa cases to the U.S. Embassy in Manila only when interview slots are available. The NVC, not the Embassy, schedules immigrant visa interviews. For K visa applications, the NVC forwards the petitions to Manila only after completing preliminary processing on those cases. If you would like to check on the status of your case, NVC can be reached at (603) 334-0700.

Those applying K-1, K-2, K-3 and K-4 visas who have been notified by the Embassy to prepare for their interview can call 1-909-101-7878 (from within the Philippines) or 1-888-877-9888 (from within the United States) to schedule an interview appointment at the U.S. Embassy in Manila.

Following-to-join family members whose Principal Applicant had Adjusted Status in the U.S.

The State Department’s National Visa Center (NVC) has been processing all following-to-join (FTJ) cases for derivative family members whose principal applicant had adjusted status in the United States. All FTJ case processing for Manila, including appointment scheduling, is now done at NVC. NVC is responsible for the collection of visa processing fees and documentation in support of immigrant visa applications.

Applicants may wish to submit a copy of the Form I-824 to NVC to determine the applicant’s entitlement to derivative status and initiate processing the visa application. The NVC mailing address is 32 Rochester Avenue, Portsmouth, New Hampshire 03801-2909. The NVC may be reached by email at NVCInquiry@state.gov.

NVC will send an Instruction Package for Immigrant Visa Applicants (formerly Packet 3) to the applicant if qualification for FTJ status is established.
