U.S. Congressional Delegation Visits the Philippines
A United States Congressional delegation led by Representative Rob Wittman (R-VA) visited the Philippines on September 2-3, 2011 for consultations on the ongoingcooperation between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the United Statesmilitary.
The delegation included Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA), Congressman StevenPalazzo (R-MS), and Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo (D-GU). All three aremembers of the House Armed Services Committee.
During their one-day visit to Manila and Zamboanga, the delegation met with leadingofficials of the AFP and with the leadership of the Joint Special Operations Task Force–Philippines (JSOTF-P). Their visit to the Philippines was one of several stops by thedelegation during a tour of Asia Pacific nations to examine U.S. government interagencycooperation and strategic initiatives.
While in Manila, the delegation also visited the Manila American Cemetery andMemorial to pay their respects to the service members who lost their lives in World WarII.
