America in 3D Comes to Cebu City
The world-famous Philippine All Stars street dance crew wowed the audience at “America in 3D” in with their own brand of amazing hip-hop moves.
The U.S. Embassy has brought America in 3D to Cebu City last September 16 to 18, with U.S. Ambassador Harry K. Thomas, Jr., opening the three-day extravaganza at SM City Cebu’s North Wing Atrium. The program highlighted American culture, values, and services in the Philippines.
All events were free and fun for the entire family. Programs included a packed lineup of musical and dance performances of American genres, including blues, country music, hip-hop, Broadway, and today’s best hits. There were free samplings of American food, information about applying for visas and how to study in the United States, and representatives of two American companies—Accenture and Lexmark—accepted resumes for careers in their companies.
America in 3D brought the Embassy directly to the community. This was a unique opportunity for Cebuanos to meet many representatives of various Embassy sections, including the Visa Section, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Commercial Service, the United States Agency for International Development, the Foreign Agricultural Service, Peace Corps, and the Philippine-American Educational Foundation (Fulbright Commission).
America in 3D has been a nationwide initiative that takes the Embassy on the road throughout the Philippines in order to deepen the relationship between Americans and Filipinos. A personal initiative of Ambassador Thomas, this is the Embassy’s most significant outreach initiative. The earlier installments took place in Quezon City in March 2011 and in Baguio in July 2011. America in 3D Cebu was the latest.
